I just got to think about when I was a newcomer here. Then, I couldn't figure out, what the various sounds were for, except in the games. maybe, it would be a good idea to have an index of the sounds, so other newcomers could learn what they meant. just a thought. smiles

Given that the files have to be stored on the server anyway, I think this could be easy to implement. I'm not sure how much it'll help, but something we should consider. Good idea.

Awhile back we talked about a list of helpful tips that could be e-mailed to all new members. This could be part of that info couldn't it? Or if not, at least part of a helpful hints link here on the zone.

is it really necessary? most people don't take a long time to figure the sounds out anyway

I think it's a good idea.
I thought of a way it could be done but i don't know how good this idea is.
On the top of the page with the users logged in it could be a link called beginner or help or something like that. The help could have the form of a user profile. The text of the profile could be useful tips about quicknotes etc for example the topic brice24 created the other day. And also it could say there is an audio profile available like some other profiles and if somebody clicks on it they can have a tutorial for the sounds on the zone. So new users could learn more about the site but also they will learn how a user's profile is stractured etc.
I hope it makes sence. If not let me know and i will try and write it again.

I think I understod that. Anyway, also posting to say a sound index woulx would be a good idea, especially if someone wanted to do QuickNotes right away or if someone else QuickNotes that person to say hi. I think QuickNotes are probably used more often than the Boards for most newq users anyway.

Quicknotes explained would be a good i idea and I like the sound idea as well.
